Treatments
Botanical medicine
Plants help heal wounds, boost immunity to bacterial/viral/fungal
infections, reduce inflammation, modulate glucose, sooth the gastrointestinal
tract, aid digestion, enhance mood, protect the brain from aging
and improve cardiovascular health. Plants also affect us energetically.
They can be warming, cooling, drying, or moisturizing. Liquid tincture
and teas can be blended to form a synergistic therapeutic plan for
your specific set of symptoms. Other forms of treatment include
ointment salves, tablets and poultices.
Lifestyle modifications
Lifestyle modification including diet, stress management, physical
exercise, mental stimulation and environmental exposure can significantly
improve brain health, immune deficiencies, autoimmune disease, liver
disease, GI disturbances, mood disorders, learning disabilities,
PMS, and menopause symptoms. Changing a life time of habits is not
an easy task but results can significantly improve your quality
of life. Support through literature, frequent contact and appropriate
referrals is an important component of care.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been used in Asia for at least 2500 years to aide with a spectrum of health issues. One area of broad acceptance is acute and chronic pain management for muscle skeletal damage caused by trauma, repetitive injury, stroke, osteoporosis, arthritis and surgucal procedures. Traditional acupuncture is the insertion of sterle single use needles at key locations along energy pathways (meridians) to normalize energy (Qi or Chi) flow within the body. Dietary supplements
Vitamins, minerals, trace elements, enzymes, enzyme cofactors, and
other key biochemical constituents can help the body regain
the vitality it requires to heal itself and return to normalcy.
Patients with reduced metabolic capabilities, because of single
nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPS) or environmental toxins, may require
supplementation to bypass blockages in key metabolic pathways. Gene
testing designed to identify known SNPS is now emerging.
Nutrition
A myriad of biochemical reactions are occurring in ever cell in
our body. Each requires energy and raw materials. The body obtains
these through breathing and eating. If the raw materials are absent
we cannot function properly. We literally are "what we eat".
The current rise of obesity is an example of how a poor diet can
affect our health. Well balanced diets rich in key nutrients and
free of reactive damaging toxins helps assure good health. But it
is not that simple, diets must be optimized for an individuals specific
health circumstances.
Homeopathy
Samuel Hahnemann conceived homeopathy on the premise that symptoms
of ill health are an expression of disharmony within a person and
that treatment with very dilute solutions of a substances which
causes a similar set of symptoms in a healthy individual (law of
similars), will stimulate the bodies innate healing powers. Homeopathy
is prescribed on a holistic basis. An initial intake may take one
and a half hours and will include questions concerning a persons
physical symptoms, mental/emotional state and past family medical
history. Acute complaints may resolve rapidly while chronic slow
developing illnesses are likely to resolve more slowly as the body
heals from within.
Naturopathic
manipulation
Our daily lives can be tough on our muscular skeletal system. Sprains,
strains, aches and pains can affect our physical capabilities, key
organ function and our mental/emotional state. Soft tissue techniques
and manipulation can be an important component of any treatment
plan. For instance patients with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue
Syndrome as well as trauma victims will all benefit from physical
medicine techniques.
Counseling
Our mind and our body are constantly interacting. This interaction
can profoundly affect our mental emotional and physical health.
Unresolved emotional issues can affect organ function and the muscular
skeletal system. GI disturbances can affect the brain via the enteric
nerves system. It is not "all just in your head". A mind
body approach to medicine and healing assures these connects will
be considered when therapeutic guidelines are developed.
